Book Character Day at T.P.S.

Book Character Day was fun! We celebrated Book Character Day at our school last Friday. We dressed up as our favorite book characters to kick off our school reading program called "Read Around the Clock." We will keep track of how many minutes we spend reading at home on our read around the clock cards. Every student who reads at home and writes down how many minutes they read will get a chance to make a favorite book video. In our classroom, Mrs. Flickinger has a reading prize box where we can choose reading tools to help us in our reading.

Don't forget to read each night and record how many minutes you are reading. Send in your completed cards at the end of the month!

*Post a comment to tell about a book that you read!

Fall is Here!

Our class has been reading many books about fall. Some books told us a story about fall and other books told us information about fall. We learned that you can rake leaves into a pile and jump in them. We think this sounds fun! We also learned that apples are ripe and ready to be picked in the fall. We heard a new vocabulary word to describe fall, it is Autumn. Some friends collected signs of fall-acorns, leaves, pinecones. We like to go outside and play with our friends in the fall. At recess, we have to remember to wear our jackets on a cold day. The weather is changing everyday!

What is your favorite activity to do in the fall? Write a comment and post it to our blog.

Welcome to our classroom blog!

Our class took a field trip to Catoctin Mountain Orchard last week. We tasted apple cider and picked an Empire apple from the tree. We each got to eat an apple for a snack. It tasted so sweet and delicious! We took a hayride to see the many apple trees in the orchard. We learned that bees like the sweet part of the apple. We really liked the playground at the orchard especially the apple castle and maze!
This week in our classroom, we made applesauce with the apples we picked. We used these ingredients: apples, cinnamon, sugar, and water. The applesauce tasted yummy!

Write about your favorite part of the field trip to the orchard.
